Mushrooms Stuffed with Cheese are quick and easy to make and can be served as a snack or starter you can use the cream cheese of your choice and top with the cheese you prefer although this recipe called for Parmesan cheese.


12 whole fresh mushroomsMushrooms Stuffed with Cheese
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 onion finely chopped
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
Parsley to garnish


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)

Grease a baking tray with a little butter or oil

Carefully clean the mushrooms and remove the stalks

Chop the stalks very finely

In a large frying pan gently fry the onion, chopped mushroom stalks until soft and any liquid has dispersed then add the minced garlic and mix well

Cool then add the cream cheese,Parmesan cheese, black pepper, onion powder and cayenne pepper*

Using a small spoon generously fill the mushroom caps

Place the filled mushrooms onto a baking tray and bake for 20 minutes

* At this stage you can add other ingredients such as cooked crab meat, finely chopped, de-seeded tomatoes or and ingredient of your choice.

Serve hot garnished with fresh parsley
