One of the most popular Indian desserts is rice pudding or Kheer and is often prepared for festivals and special occasions.  


½ cup riceIndian Rice Pudding
5 cups milk
8 tbsp sugar
4 cardamoms
raisins, nuts to decorate


Rinse the rice and place it into a saucepan with half of the milk and stir it well

Cook until the rice is soft about 15 to 2o minutes

Mash the rice mixture with a fork and then add the sugar and and remaining milk

Simmer for 10  minutes the mixture by now should be quite thick

Add the cardamoms and raisins and then remove from the heat and serve decorated with nuts and raisins.
