French Onion Pie

Perfect for buffets,. suppers or picnics and quick and easy to make.


3 sheets puff pastry dough, thawed                

6 onions sliced

4 tbsp/2oz/60g butter

3 eggs, beaten

1¾ cups/12 fl oz/350ml sour cream

1tsp/5g ground nutmeg

1½ tsp/7.5g horseradish relish

1½  cups/6oz/175g sharp yellow cheese


Preheat the oven to 200ºC/400ºF

Line 6 individual ovenproof dishes with the puff pastry

Melt the butter in a frying pan and cook the onions until golden

Divide the mixture into 6 portions and spread over the base of the lined pie dishes

Mix together the eggs, sour cream, horseradish and nutmeg.

Our the mixture into the pies then top with the cheese and bake for 60 minutes or until firm.
