Custard Home-Made




½ pint milk

1 dessertspoon vanilla sugar

2 eggs beaten


Heat the milk and vanilla sugar but do not boil

Pour the milk onto the beaten eggs stirring all the time

Pour the mixture into a heat proof bowl or basin

Stand this over a pan of water which has boiled and is now simmering without letting the water touch the bottom of the basin.

Stir with a wooden spoon

When the mixture coats the back of the spoon, this takes about 10 minutes

Serve hot with puddings or sweet pies
