The Back Rusian cocktail first appeared in 1949  and is attributed to Gustave Tops, a Belgian barman, who created it at the Hotel Metropole in Brussels in honor of Perle Mesta, then U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg.

IngredientsBlack Russian

¾ oz. coffee liqueur such as Kahlua or Tia Maria

½ oz. Vodka

Method

Pour the ingredients into the old fashioned glass filled with ice cubes. Stir gently.

A variation is the Tall Black Russian, which is prepared in the same manner as the Black Russian, but served in a taller glass and topped up with Cola
